Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and NeighbourHub ("we", "us", "our"), the operator of the NeighbourHub hyperlocal directory. By using the NeighbourHub WhatsApp number, website, or business listing tools, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What NeighbourHub is

NeighbourHub is a directory that helps neighbours find local businesses, mainly inside WhatsApp. We simply connect a customer to a business. We do not supply, perform, endorse, or guarantee any of the goods or services that listed businesses offer, and we are not a party to any agreement or transaction between a customer and a business.

2. We never handle money

NeighbourHub does not process payments and never handles anyone's money. Any quote, payment, deposit, or refund is strictly between the customer and the business. We are not responsible for pricing, invoices, or any money that changes hands.

3. Listings and vetting

A real person reviews every business before it is listed. This vetting is done in good faith to raise the standard of the directory, but it is not a warranty or certification: it does not guarantee a business's quality, licensing, insurance, safety, or conduct. We may approve, decline, edit, suspend, or remove any listing at our sole discretion, with or without reason.

4. Businesses using NeighbourHub

If you list a business, you confirm that the information you give is true and current, that you are entitled to run that business and to use any logo or images you upload, and that you hold any licences, permits, and insurance the law requires. You agree to deal with customers lawfully, honestly, and professionally. You consent to NeighbourHub contacting you on WhatsApp about your listing, including approval updates, referral notifications, and occasional NeighbourHub news, and you may opt out of non-essential messages at any time.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the logos, photos, and text you upload. You grant NeighbourHub a licence to display and lightly adapt that content (for example resizing images or adding a "Listed on NeighbourHub" mark) so we can show your listing. You must not upload anything unlawful, misleading, offensive, or that infringes someone else's rights.

6. Ratings and reviews

Ratings come from customers and help decide which businesses appear first. We may display, moderate, or remove ratings and reviews to keep them fair and genuine. Businesses may not offer rewards for ratings or post ratings about themselves.

7. WhatsApp and third parties

NeighbourHub runs over WhatsApp, which is provided by Meta and governed by Meta's own terms. Standard mobile data or messaging charges from your network may apply. We are not responsible for outages or changes in WhatsApp or any other third-party platform we rely on.

8. Privacy

We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), as described in our Privacy Notice.

9. No warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we give no warranties about the service or about any business listed on it, and we do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, NeighbourHub and its operator are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or dispute arising from your dealings with a listed business or from your use of the service, including indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Indemnity

If you list a business, you agree to indemnify and hold NeighbourHub and its operator harmless against claims, losses, and costs arising from your listing, your content, your conduct, or your dealings with customers.

12. Suspension and changes

We may suspend or end access to anyone who breaks these terms or misuses the service. We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always lives on this page, and continuing to use the service means you accept the latest version.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
